The Tourist Train at Gran Alicant

Tourist Train

The Tourist Train runs around Gran Alacant stopping at 12 different points, including Carabassi beach and Gran Alacant Commercial Centre giving you the chance to check out the area, arrange your evenings eating place and catching some pretty spectacular views of the coast.

The stopping places are:

1.Gran Alacant Municipal Building

The train starts at the municipal offices on Avenida Escandanavia at the “top end” of the urbanisation.

 

  1. 2.Avenida Mediterraneo, Gran Alacant

From there it travels down Avenida Escandanavia and Avenida Mediterraneo by the Post Office. This is the stop for the Thursday market.

 

  1. Carabassi Beach, Gran Alacant

The train then runs down the hill with the chance to catch fantastic views of Carabassi Beach and Alicante heading towards the El Clot de Galvany nature park which is at the rear of the apartment complex. The train stops a few minutes from Carabassi beach.

4.Carabassi Complex, Gran Alacant

From the beach the train goes along to the Carabassi Complex in Lower Gran Alacant and stops just outside one of the entrances to the apartment complex.

5.Monte y Mar Lower

The train continues over the roundabout in the direction of the Commercial Centre and stops on the Avenida Noruega close to the Dial Prix supermarket and, amongst others, the Argentinean restaurants and half a dozen decent bars.

6. Gran Alacant Commercial Centre

The next stop is the Commercial centre where there are four supermarkets including Aldi and Mercadona plus other shops, banks, bars and restaurants.

7.Avenida del Mediterraneo, Gran Alacant

From here, the train heads back up the hill to Upper Gran Alacant, via Avenida del Mediterraneo towards the Post office roundabout.

8. Santa Pola Park, Gran Alacant

The next stop for Gran Alacant’s tourist train is here on Avenida Escandanavia near to the Post Office.

9. Calle Monte de Santa Pola, Gran Alacant

The train turns right just past the bank into Calle Monte De Santa Pola towards the main pharmacy.

10. Calle Monte de Santa Pola, Gran Alacant

The train then continues along Calle Monte de Santa Pola, towards the Life Resort, where there is a Maxcoop Supermarket and more bars and restaurants.

11. Calle Monte de Santa Pola, Gran Alacant

At the far end of Calle Monte de Santa Pola, is the next stop for the Gran Alacant’s tourist train. This is also the nearest stop for the outdoor market on Thursday.

12. El Faro

The next stop on Gran Alacant’s tourist train route is by the lighthouse at the top of Gran Alacant – another spot with sweeping views down to the beaches and Santa Pola.

 

 

The Tourist Train in Gran Alacant runs hourly other than during the long Spanish lunch break with pauses of around 5 minutes at each stop

The last train is at 22.00 out of season and midnight between June and September

The cost is 3 Euros per round trip (2 Euros for children) or you can buy a ten day ticket for 25 Euros – children under 4 travel free

You can get off and on at any point along the route
